How to Open the Big Door in the Ruins of Alph in Pokemon SoulSilver

Navigating the many chambers that comprise the Ruins of Alph often proves one of the most frustrating parts of "Pokemon SoulSilver." To make your way through the Ruins, you must solve a series of complicated puzzles that ask you to use special techniques such as Flash and rare items such as Water Stones. Eventually you will find yourself in front of a big door, which is the final puzzle. To solve the puzzle and open the door, you need to have the Pokemon Ho-Oh in your inventory.

Instructions

- 1
  Use an escape rope to leave the Ruins of Alph. If you do not have an escape rope in your inventory, use a Pokemon with the "Dig" technique.

  Travel to a Pokemon Center and use a computer there to access the Pokemon storage system.

  Search for Ho-Oh. If you find him, extract Ho-Oh from the PC. If you do not find him, travel to the Bell Tower in Ecruteak City and capture him. Make sure you have an open slot in your inventory before setting off in search of him.

  Return to the big door in the Ruins of Alph with Ho-Oh in your inventory. Make sure he occupies your first inventory slot. When you enter the room with the door, it will open. Go through the door to find the following four items: Gold Berry, Mystery Berry, Revival Herb and Charcoal.
