How to Trade Pokemon from Emerald to Ruby on a VBA System

What's a game of "Pokemon" without being able to trade your favorite monsters? Visual Boy Advance (VBA) lets you play "Pokemon Ruby" and "Pokemon Sapphire" on your PC -- so long as you own the actual cartridges. One thing Visual Boy Advance does not not emulate by default, however, is the Game Boy Advance's link feature, which allows you to trade Pokemon. If you want to trade your Pokemon from "Emerald" to "Ruby," you will need to download an add-on called VBA Link.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to vbalink.info and download VBAlink.zip. This is a compressed file containing the VBA Link Add-on.

    • 2

Extract the contents of VBAlink.zip to the folder on your PC that contains Visual Boy Advance, then open VBA.exe to launch Visual Boy Advance.

    • 3

Run your "Pokemon Emerald" ROM in Visual Boy Advance and travel to the nearest Pokemon Center. If you are stuck in the wilderness, select a Pokemon with the "Fly" ability to get to a city quickly. Run "Pokemon Ruby" and do the same.

    • 4

Enter the Pokemon Center in both games and speak with the man you find on the far right of the Pokemon Center. Respond "Yes" when he asks if you would like to link your "Pokemon" games and trade from "Emerald" to "Ruby."
