In the Pokemon games, you can find special moves called HMs scattered throughout the world, and their location depends on which version of Pokemon you play. HMs allow you to do special things inside the game like fly, swim, and move obstacles. The HM Flash, which can light up dark caves, was renamed to a different type of item called a TM in later Pokemon games, but in "Pokemon Emerald" it's still known as an HM.

Go to "Dewford Town," located in the lower left corner of your world map, and head north.

Find the beach and head west where you'll see the entrance to "Granite Cave."

Enter the cave and look for a man standing near the entrance. Talk to him, and he'll give you the HM Flash.
