How to Get Huntail and Gorebyss in 'Pokemon: Sapphire'

In "Pokemon Sapphire," obtaining a Gorebyss or Huntail is completely dependent on whether or not you know Clampearl's secret evolutionary methods. Huntail, the Deep Sea Pokemon, lures smaller sea creatures out with its luminous tail only to gulp them down with a single bite. Although it has a gentle appearance, Gorebyss is known for puncturing its prey and drinking its innards through its tubular snout. Pokemon trainers will first have to locate the Deepseascale or Deepseatooth before they can obtain either creature.

Instructions

    • 1

Bring Pokemon that know the moves Dive and Surf to the Abandoned Ship on Route 108.

    • 2

Go inside of the ship and use Dive to access the submerged lower levels. Continue through the hallway and surface at the end to enter a room featuring several sealed doors.

    • 3

Move around the room and press the "A" button with each step to comb the floor for the hidden keys. Continue grabbing hidden keys and attempt to enter the second door after you find each one. Pick up the Scanner item in the second room.

    • 4

Talk to Captain Stern in Slateport City and trade the Scanner for either the Deepseascale or the Deepseatooth item.

    • 5

Give Clampearl the tooth or the scale to hold and trade it to another version of "Pokemon." Clampearl evolves into Gorebyss if it was holding the Deepseascale, or Huntail if it held the Deepseatooth, upon arriving in the game it was traded to.
