The Pokemon Trapinch may not look imposing, but it is surprisingly powerful. It is a Ground-type Pokemon, so it is weak against Water-, Ice- and Grass-types, but it is strong against Fire-, Electric-, Poison-, Rock- and Steel-types. In addition, it comes with one of two abilities: Hyper Cutter and Arena Trap. Hyper Cutter prevents its opponents from lowering its attack statistic, while Area Trap prevents them from running or switching out with another Pokemon during a battle, unless they have the Levitate ability or are Flying-type Pokemon. Trapinch also learns the strong, Dark-type move called Crunch right before its first evolution, which occurs at Level 35.

Defeat the Lavaridge Gym Leader. When you exit the building, your rival will appear and give you the Go-Go Goggles.

Exit Lavaridge and head east until you reach Route 111. Enter the desert to the north. Trapinch are common in the desert, so your chances of encountering one here are good.

Walk in the sand until you encounter Trapinch. Battle it, lower its health and capture it with a Poke Ball.
