How to Get a Dragon Scale in Pokemon Sapphire

Dragon Scales are evolutionary items used to evolve Dragon-type Pokemon in "Pokemon Sapphire" and its counterparts, "Pokemon Ruby" and "Pokemon Emerald." As with most evolutionary items, Dragon Scales are quite rare. In fact, you won't be able to find one in a Poke Ball out in the fields of Hoenn. Instead, you must battle and capture Dragon-type Pokemon, such as Horsea and Bagon, in the hopes that the one you capture may have one of these rare items.

Instructions

    • 1

Play through the game until you get the Super Rod. Go to Pacifidlog Town, which is accessible via Route 131, from Mossdeep City. Fish in any of the town's bodies of water until you encounter a Horsea.

    • 2

Battle the Horsea, but do not kill it. Instead, capture the Horsea and check to see if it has a Dragon Scale. Repeat the process if it does not have one. To save on time, catch five to 10 Horsea, then check them out at the Pokemon Center.

    • 3

Travel to Meteor Falls. Enter the cave at the very rear of the area, where you can find the Dragon Claw. You need Waterfall and Surf to access this area.

    • 4

Walk around this cave until you encounter a wild Bagon. Capture between five and 10 of these, then return to a Pokemon Center and check them to see if any of them are carrying a Dragon Scale. Repeat the process until you catch one that is.
