How to Get Sudowoodo in Emerald

Sudowoodo is a rather deceptive monster. Though it is of the Rock type, it spends a good part of "Pokemon: Emerald Version" impersonating a tree and impeding your advancement through the game up until a certain point. Although you'll find only one of these Pokemon in "Emerald Version," there is a rather simple method to catching it.

Instructions

    • 1

Pass through the Petalburg Woods and enter the Pretty Petal Flower Shop. Talk to the women there, and they will give you a Wailmer Pail to help water the plants all around the Hoenn region.

    • 2

Play through the game until you defeat the Elite Four. This will earn you a ticket to the S.S. Tidal.

    • 3

Board the ship and travel to the Battle Frontier. Go to the Pokemon Center at the center of the Frontier. Using this as a landmark, exit this area to the right and follow the river at the bottom of your screen. Go down to the bottom, and you will see a strange looking tree.

    • 4

Save your game before you engage Sudowoodo. Open your bag, select the Wailmer Pail from the Key Items pouch and use it on the tree. This will cause Sudowoodo to attack.

    • 5

Fight Sudowoodo and bring its health down enough to where you can catch it with an Ultra Ball. If you accidentally defeat this Pokemon, simply restart your game and try again.
