How to Be Able to Use Strength on Pokemon Sapphire

Strength is a special move used by Pokemon off the battlefield to push large boulders out of your path. This technique is vital while trying to navigate some of the advanced caves and caverns in "Pokemon Sapphire." HM04, the hidden machine that teaches Pokemon the move Strength, is awarded as a gift once you figure out how to earn it. Once you obtain HM04, you can use it as many times as you like, to teach your Pokemon how to clear the path of giant rocks.

Instructions

  Bring a Pokemon that know the move Rock Smash to Rusturf Tunnel. Look for the couple that has been separated by two breakable rocks.

  Face the rocks and select the Pokemon in your party that knows Rock Smash, then select the "use" option. The reunited people will give you HM04 as a reward.

  Defeat Gym Leader Flannery in Lavaridge Town and receive the Heat Badge for winning. Having the Heat Badge allows you to use the move Strength outside of a Pokemon battle.

  Select HM04 from your item bag and activate it. Use it on any of the Pokemon in your party that are listed as "able." You may have to delete one of the Pokemon's four moves so that it can learn Strength.

  Enter an area that contains movable bounders. Select the Pokemon that knows Strength and press "use." Every boulder you walk into will be pushed in the direction you are walking.
