Visual Boy Advance (VBA) is a free hardware emulator designed to load and play ROM files, or cartridge image files, of video games for the Game Boy Advance system. When you play a game on the Visual Boy Advance, your save games are stored in the uncompressed "SAV" format. Other programs might require the related "SA1" format, another uncompressed save file format. One of those programs is VBA Link, a modified version of Visual Boy Advance that lets players connect remotely and play multiplayer games.

Find your SAV file in the "Battery" folder of your Visual Boy Advance installation.

Right-click the file and click "Rename."

Change the extension from ".sav" to ".sa1" and press the Enter key.
