How to Get to the Team Magma's Hideout in Pokémon: Ruby

In "Pokémon Ruby Version," accessing Team Magma's secret headquarters is one of the last tasks you must complete before earning Hoenn's seventh gym badge. It's more than just a plot event, however; the hideout is home to the Master Ball, one of the most useful commodities in the history of Pokémon video games. Before you can enter Magma's lair -- and eventually earn your seventh badge -- you'll need to chase the evil organization's leader around the region.

  Enter Mt. Pyre. Travel west from Lilycove City and then head south toward the dock on Route 121 (use the map if you get lost). Surf south and then east until you reach a green strip of land; the entrance to Mt. Pyre is on the north end of the land strip.

  Retrieve the Red Orb from the mountain summit. Enter Mt. Pyre and exit to the outside through the west hallway. From there, travel north up the mountain and defeat the Team Magma Grunts you find near the top. When you do, walk forward to begin a cut scene; Maxie will leave with the Blue Orb and an old couple will hand you the Red Orb.

  Talk to Team Magma at the shipyard. Travel to Slateport City and walk to the harbor at the city's southern end. Talk to Captain Stern outside the building, then follow him inside and watch the cut scene that shows Maxie ride away in a giant submarine. Exit the building when the scene is over.

  Enter Team Magma's hideout. Travel to Lilycove City and use Surf off the eastern beach. Head northeast until you reach a cave entryway; this is the doorway to the hideout.
