How to Get a Ticket for the Boat in Pokemon: Gold

When "Pokemon: Gold Version" was released in 2000, it received high praise and accolades for allowing players to travel between the new Johto region and Kanto, the region featured in "Pokemon: Red Version" and "Pokemon: Blue Version." Once in Kanto, players can challenge seven of the eight original gym leaders and capture several new Pokemon. The S.S. Aqua cruise liner that docks in Olivine City can take you directly to Vermillion City in Kanto if you have a ticket for the ship.

Instructions

  Collect any gym badges you don't have and proceed to the Pokemon League. To get there, surf east from New Bark Town and travel through Victory Road.

  Defeat the Elite Four and the Champion: You will have to defeat the following trainers and Pokemon types to advance: Will (Psychic), Koga (Poison), Bruno (Fighting), Karen (Dark) and Lance (Dragon). After you beat Champion Lance, he will enter your Pokemon into the hall of fame, and the credits will roll. Your game automatically saves at this point; turn it off anytime.

  Obtain the S.S. Ticket: When you next start the game, your character will appear in his house. Professor Elm will call and tell you he has a gift for you; go to his lab to get the S.S. Ticket from the professor.
