How to Dive in the Currents on Pokemon Sapphire

In "Pokemon Sapphire," you can dive in currents by using the battle move "Dive." This move can be taught to a Pokemon through an item known as a hidden machine or HM. HM08 is the hidden machine that contains "Dive" and can be found in Mossdeep City. There are only 76 Pokemon that can learn the "Dive" battle move, so you must be sure that you have the right type before you can actually use this move.

Instructions

  Travel to Mossdeep City and enter Steven's house in the upper right-hand corner of the city. Talk to Steven to receive HM08.

  Select "HM08" from your bag. Select a Pokemon to teach it to. Most Water-type Pokemon can learn HM08.

  Travel into any body of water. If the water is a deep blue color, darker than the surrounding water, you can use "Dive." Select your Pokemon that knows "Dive" then choose the "Dive" option to plunge into the water. To resurface, simply reselect "Dive" again.
