Instructions
Keep less than 24 members in your clan. Twenty-four is the maximum number of members a clan can have. To recruit a new character, you must have room for him in your clan.
Go on sub-missions often. Sub-missions are usually optional, but some are important to advance the story. They are randomly found in restaurants and bars throughout the World Map. Any of the four mission types -- Regular, Encounter, Dispatch and Area -- can result in recruitment. Usually, you must pay a fee to engage in a mission. Make sure you have a good supply of Gil to do so.
Take items won in prior sub-missions along on new sub-missions. Different items increase the chance of recruiting characters of a particular race and job class. Because the recruitment system is heavily randomized, there is no guarantee that taking a given item along will result in a recruitment at the end of the mission. In general, your odds of getting the recruitment screen at the end of a mission are below 50 percent no matter what preparations you make.
Pay close attention to what your clan members and non-player characters say during cut scenes and other interactions. Information about which item to take on a sub-mission to increase your chance of recruiting a particular type of character is sometimes given at random. For example, once your clan members have an average level of about 50, you may hear of something called the Wyrmstone. Taking this item on sub-missions greatly increases your chance of recruiting Pallanza, a powerful character.
