How to Make a Ho-Oh Puzzle in Pokemon Crystal

There is a series of puzzles in the Ruins of Alph in "Pokemon Crystal" that each depict different Pokemon. One of these puzzles can be assembled to make an image of Ho-oh, the legendary bird Pokemon. The room with this puzzle can be accessed after you have HM03, the move that lets you teach Pokemon how to surf across water. You can get to this room through Union Cave. A trap door that leads to the next area opens beneath you as soon as you complete the puzzle.

Instructions

    • 1

Highlight a puzzle piece and then press the "A" button to select it. Move it around the puzzle grid with the direction buttons and then press "A" again to place the piece in the puzzle.

    • 2

Locate the puzzle pieces that have part of the border and place them around the edge of the puzzle area. These pieces have a light brown straight edge on one side, or on two sides if it is a corner piece.

    • 3

Place the puzzle piece that depicts a beak in the puzzle slot that is two spaces down from the top of the puzzle and two spaces in from the left.

    • 4

Move the puzzle piece that depicts an eye to the slot immediately to the right of the beak piece you just placed.

    • 5

Position the last two pieces underneath the beak and eye so that they form the torso of Ho-oh and the top of its talons.

    • 6

Listen for an audio cue to signify that you have completed the puzzle. If there is no sound, then some pieces are out of order. The completed image depicts Ho-oh with its wings fanned out, head facing left and its talons up.
