How to Catch Lugia in Pokemon Fire Red & Pokemon Leaf Green

Lugia is a Psychic- and Flying-type Legendary Pokemon in the sister games "Pokemon FireRed" or "Pokemon LeafGreen." Like most Legendary Pokemon, Lugia has the "Pressure" ability. Whenever an opponent hits Lugia, this ability causes the opponent's power points to decrease by two. If you have the MysticTicket, you catch Lugia, along with Ho-oh, at the Navel Rock on Rainbow Island 8. The catch is the MysticTicket was only available at Nintendo Events, and there's no guarantee it will be offered at another one.

Instructions

  Enter any Pokemon Mart in Kanto and press "A" before the clipboard on the counter. Enter "Link Together With All" to answer the questionnaire. The shopkeeper will enable Mystery Gift, which you can access on the main menu.

  Go to a promotional event where Nintendo is offering the MysticTicket (see tips). Use the Wireless Adapter Connected near the Wonder Spot, which is a real-life machine, to send a code to "Fire Red" or "Leaf Green." The code will enable you to talk to a man to get the MysticTicket.

  Go to the second floor of any Pokemon Center. Speak to the only man on the second floor of the Pokemon Center and he will give you the MysticTicket. Fly to Vermillion City. Talk to the sailor at the port and he will notice your MysticTicket. He will take you to Rainbow Island 8, where you will find Lugia on Navel Rock.

  Enter the Navel Rock cave on Rainbow Island. Run north and ascend the small staircase. Head right and descend the many stairs. At the end of the last staircase, you will find a Level 70 Lugia.

  Stand before the Lugia and save your game. Press "A" to challenge the Lugia to battle. Weaken the Lugia with Dark-, Ghost-, Bug-, Ice-, Rock-, Ground- and Flying-type moves. Use moves that cause status effects like "Sleep" and "Paralysis." Once the Lugia has less than 10 hitpoints, try to capture it with Ultra Balls.
