In "Pokemon HeartGold," you find yourself in the Ice Path dungeon of Route 44 right after you earn the eight Gym Leader Badges and leave Mahogany Town. In the Ice Path dungeon, you must complete many puzzles, some of which involve sliding your character on icy tiles that force your character to slide in a particular direction until he either collides with another object or lands in the snow again. To get rid of the man whom you eventually find blocking your path, you must complete one of these icy puzzles to earn HM07: Waterfall.

Agree to help the man retrieve his missing HM07. HM07 allows you to teach a Pokemon the Waterfall technique.

Move south of the man and slide on the icy tiles in the following order: right, up, left, down, left, up, right.

Pick up the item container you see at the end of the puzzle route.

Return to the man and speak to him. He will decide to let you keep HM07, and will unblock the path by moving out of the way.
