How to Catch Magmar in Pokemon

In Nintendo's original "Pokemon" game, players can capture a rare Fire-based Pokemon called Magmar. To find this Pokemon, players with "Pokemon Blue" must enter the Pokemon Lab on Cinnabar Island to find this creature. Like most Pokemon in the game, players must battle the critter to capture it.

Instructions

    • 1

      Travel to Cinnabar Island. On your map, it's the island in the lower, left corner.

      Enter the Pokemon Lab and traverse the grounds. Eventually, a random battle with a Pokemon will occur.

      Fight and defeat the Pokemon if it's not Magmar. Then, keep walking around until you get into a battle with Magmar.

    • 4

      Fight Magmar with a Water-, Ground- or Rock-type Pokemon.

    • 5

      Wear down Magmar's HP and use a Pokeball when it's HP is low to capture it.
