How to Find the 8th Badge for Pokemon Ruby

The final gym badge is obtained from Sootopolis Gym in "Pokemon Ruby." Upon arriving in Sootopolis City, players quickly find that the Pokemon Gym in the center of the city is closed. You will need to complete a thrilling side mission before the gym reopens. Both the detour through the Cave of Origin and the Pokemon battle with Gym Leader Wallace are challenging missions for newer Pokemon trainers. Be prepared to face five tough Water-type Pokemon in the final Pokemon Gym battle.

Instructions

  Enter Sootopolis City. Talk to the elder standing at the northernmost edge of the city in front of the Cave of Origins. Sootopolis City is located in the middle of Route 126.

  Follow the path into the Cave of Origin after talking to the elder. Follow the direct path of the cave to the fourth basement level to encounter the legendary Ground-type Pokemon Groudon.

  Save the game. Walk up to Groudon to instigate a Pokemon battle. Do your best to capture Groudon in a Poke Ball, as it only appears in this one location once per save file in "Pokemon Ruby." If you run out of Poke Balls or defeat Groudon, restart your game for another chance.

  Return to Sootopolis Gym after capturing or knocking out Groudon to challenge the Gym Leader for the Rain Badge. Wallace uses Water-type Pokemon that are greatly weakened by Grass- and Electric-type attacks.
