How to Find TM & HM in Pokemon Sappire

In "Pokemon Sapphire," TM stands for "technical machine," and HM stands for "hidden machine." A technical machine is a device that allows you to teach a technique to one of your Pokemon; you can also use a technical machine once. A hidden machine also allows you to teach your Pokemon a technique; however, you are allowed to use a hidden machine an unlimited number of times. The techniques Pokemon learn from hidden machines can also be used outside of battle. "Surf," which allows your Pokemon to traverse watery terrain, is an example of a hidden machine.

  Buy TMs from various shops located throughout the world map and search for them in caves and dungeons and along paths. For instance, you can find TM01 Focus Punch along Route 115.

  Earn TMs as prizes for defeating Pokemon Gym Leaders or for winning at the Pokemon Casino. For example, Wallace, the Water Gym Leader, gives you TM03 Water Pulse, after you defeat him.

  Find HM01 Cut west of the Pokemon Center in Rustboro City, HM03 Surf west of the Pokemon Center in Petalburg City, HM04 Strength in Rusturf Tunnel, HM05 Flash at the mouth of Dewford Cave, HM06 Rock Smash in the southeast part of Mauville City, HM07 Waterfall at the cave in Sootopolis City and HM08 Dive in northwestern Mossdeep City.
