How Do I Fix a Pokemon Gold That Won't Save in GBA?

Pokemon trainers who aspire to "Catch 'em all" are required to put in several hours of game time. To help with this, all of the games in the "Pokemon" franchise have a save function. "Pokemon Gold" was part of the second generation of Pokemon games and could be played on the Game Boy Advance, or GBA. However, some games may develop an error where they quit saving properly. This can occur for many reasons. In situations where the error is fixable, a classic video game solution may remedy your problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the power on the GBA and take the game out of the cartridge slot.

    • 2

Spray compressed air (or blow) into the bottom of the cartridge. Dust or debris may be causing a faulty connection that prevents the game from saving.

    • 3

Follow the same procedure as Step 2 with the slot inside the GBA. Hold the GBA upside down while you do this so that if dust becomes loosened it will fall out of the game slot.

    • 4

Run a silk cloth (or a cloth made of any smooth material) along both of the areas that you just sprayed. This will clean out any remaining debris.

    • 5

Put the game back into the GBA. Turn on the power and attempt to save the game.
