How to Teach Charmander to Belly Drum

Belly Drum, a move that was first seen in the Generation II Pokemon games "Gold" and "Silver," is a non-damaging, stat-raising move. This Normal-type attack cuts the Pokemon's HP in half in order to maximize its Attack stat. Only a few Pokemon can learn Belly Drum by leveling, but many Pokemon, including Charmander, can learn Belly Drum as an Egg Move. Charmander and its evolutions learn moves that make use of the Attack stat, so Belly Drum is a valuable and strategic move for Charmander to have.

Instructions

    • 1

Catch or breed a male Snorlax. Find Snorlax in Vermilion City in Generation II games. Obtain one in a trade in the Generation III games ("Ruby," "Sapphire" or "Emerald"), or evolve one from Munchlax in Generations IV ("Diamond," "Pearl" or "Platinum") and V ("Black" and "White").

    • 2

Put the male Snorlax in your party and fight battles with it to raise it to Level 22 in Generation II games, Level 15 in Generation III games or Level 17 in Generation IV and V games. Snorlax will then learn Belly Drum. Delete a move to accomodate Belly Drum if you need to.

    • 3

Catch or breed a female Charmander. Use the Time Capsule to get Charmander in Generation II games, or trade for one in the later-generation games.

    • 4

Put both the male Snorlax that knows Belly Drum and the female Charmander into the Pokemon Daycare at the same time.

    • 5

Wait for the two Pokemon to breed. Walk around outside until the Daycare Man tells you that he has found a Pokemon Egg.

    • 6

Walk around with the Egg in your party to hatch a Charmander that knows Belly Drum as an Egg Move. Walk for 5,120 steps in order to hatch Charmander.
