How to Use the Rod on Ruby

"Pokemon Ruby" was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2003. There are many different ways to catch Pokemon in "Ruby," whether it is walking through tall grass, walking in caves or fishing. The majority of water Pokemon in the game can only be caught while fishing. You are given a number of fishing rods for free by speaking to various Fishing Gurus across the world. No matter which fishing rod you have, you can fish for Pokemon the same way.

     Stand in front of any body of water. You can fish in any river, lake or ocean in the game with any rod.

     Press "Start."

     Select "Bag."

   • 4

     Select "Key Items."

   • 5

     Select your rod.

   • 6

     Select "Yes." Your character will begin fishing with the rod.

   • 7

     Press "A" when the words "Oh! A bite!" appear on screen. You will begin a Pokemon battle with the fish you caught. You can either catch the Pokemon or defeat it for experience.
