How to Put Codes in the gpSP

The gpSP is an emulator designed for the Sony PSP handheld gaming system. It allows you to play virtual versions of games originally designed for the Game Boy Advance on your Sony console. If you want to use cheat codes along with your emulated games, you need to add them as text files to the memory stick inside your PSP. This involves connecting your console to your computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click on your desktop. Select the "New" option followed by "Text Document." A file labeled "New Text Document" will appear on your desktop. Right-click the file and select "Rename." Type the name of the game you want to use cheat codes with on the gpSP.

    • 2

Open the text document on your desktop. Type "gameshark_V3" (without quotes) at the top of the text document if you will be entering Gameshark codes. Type "PAR_V3" (without quotes) if you will be entering Action Replay codes.

    • 3

Type the name of the code you are entering using your keyboard. For example, if the code is for an infinite amount of ammunition, type "Infinite Ammo." Press "Enter" and type the number value for the cheat code on the next line. Gameshark and Action Replay codes for games can be found online at sites like IGN.com, CheatCC and GameFAQs.com (see Resources).

    • 4

Click "File" and "Save." Close the text document. Right-click the text document and change the ".TXT" part of the file extension to ".CHT." This will save the file in a cheat code format recognizable by the gpSP software.

    • 5

Plug your PSP's USB cable into your computer. Plug the other end into the top of your PSP. This is the same method you used when you originally installed gpSP on your device.

    • 6

Click "Start." Open "Computer." Open the icon that represents your Sony PSP.

    • 7

Open the folder labeled "PSP." Open the folder labeled "Game." Open the folder labeled "gpSP." Open the folder labeled "GBA."

    • 8

Open the folder labeled "CHT." Drag the .CHT file from your desktop and place it in this folder. The cheat code will be copied to your Sony PSP's memory card and the code itself will be available in games played via the gpSP software.
