How to Kill the Dragon Boss in Metroid: Zero Mission for the GBA

"Metroid: Zero Mission," an adventure game on the GameBoy Advance, features a dragon boss named "Kraid." Kraid has appeared in most "Metroid" games, including the very first. He is a large, green dragon taking up multiple screens vertically and the left half of the game screen horizontally. Defeating Kraid is necessary to earn several power ups, including the super high "Super Jump." Memorize his attack patterns and use a consistent attack method to defeat him.

Instructions

    • 1

Avoid Kraid's claw swipes by jumping backward when you see his arms begin to move. Jump to higher platforms on the left when you see his belly missiles form. You have a few seconds to move before he shoots. His attack patterns are random, so watch him carefully.

    • 2

Jump to the platform above the door where you entered the room. Select your missiles and shoot him in the face to make him open his mouth. Shoot as many missiles as possible into his mouth before he closes it.

    • 3

Shoot his belly projectiles to earn power ups, such as missiles and health. Jump over them to let them stick in the wall. The door platform will be destroyed by his projectiles early in the battle.

    • 4

Climb the projectiles when they're stuck in the wall. This should give you access to his face. Keep shooting his face and mouth with missiles to damage him. The stuck projectile will begin to flash and explode when he is about to shoot other projectiles, so jump off as they flash.

    • 5

Watch his color change as you damage him. He will turn bright red just before you kill him and will attack much more quickly in desperation. Avoid his attacks and shoot him with missiles until he collapses onto the ground.
