How to Get a Shiny Charmander in Leaf Green

Shiny Pokemon are rare. And, Shiny Starters are even rarer since they cannot be caught in the wild. Though getting a shiny Charmander in "Pokemon LeafGreen" won't give you any stat bonuses, the bragging rights may be worth it. A shiny Charmander is a lighter yellow-gold color, rather than the standard orange. Shiny Charmeleon is much the same. A shiny Charmander's final evolution, Charizard, has a black sprite instead of orange. It also looks imposing in battle.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin a new game, naming yourself and your rival as well as choosing your player character's gender.

    • 2

Leave your house and attempt to enter the tall grass. Professor Oak will stop you and take you back to his lab.

    • 3

Save before choosing your Pokemon. For quickest results, save while standing directly in front of Charmander's Pokeball.

    • 4

Choose Charmander and name it if you wish. Enter the "Start" menu and choose the 'Pokemon" option. If your Charmander is a shiny, a star will appear next to its name and the sprite will be a golden yellow instead of orange.

    • 5

Restart the game by simultaneously pressing "Start," "Select," "A" and "B" if Charmander is not shiny.

    • 6

Choose Charmander again, once more checking whether or not it is shiny. If not, reset your game and try again until it is.
