How to Get All Starters for Pokemon Emerald on Visual Boy Advance

"Pokemon Emerald" is part of a trio of games, the others being "Ruby" and "Sapphire," for the Gameboy Advanced (also known as the Visual Boy Advance). Each game gives the player a different set of Pokemon to catch. In order to catch all the Pokemon, players must trade with other players. The starter Pokemon that players can choose from are; Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip. Players may only select one at the beginning of the game, however, they can eventually get all three.

Instructions

  1. Trade

    • 1

Make a friend who has "Pokemon Emerald."

    • 2

Start a new game and select one of the three starter Pokemon.

    • 3

Play the game until you encounter another Pokemon. Use a Pokeball from the "Item" menu during battle to capture the Pokemon.

    • 4

Go to the nearest Pokemon Center. Have your friend do the same. Save your games and restart the Gameboy. Connect the two Gameboys with the link cable.

    • 5

Go upstairs in the Pokemon Center. Walk through the center door. Select your starter Pokemon to trade and have your friend give you a disposable Pokemon.

    • 6

Save the game on both Gameboys. Have your friend store the first starter Pokemon. Repeat Steps 2 to 5, selecting another starter Pokemon.

    • 7

Complete Steps 2 to 4, selecting the remaining starter Pokemon. Instead of trading the remaining starter Pokemon, have your friend send you the already-traded starter Pokemon. You will need to catch two Pokemon to exchange.
