How to Get a Fire Stone in the Pokemon Gold Version for the GBA

The Fire Stone is a special item in the Gameboy Color Game "Pokemon Gold" (also playable on a Gameboy Advance) that allows players to evolve their Pokemon. This means players can turn their Vulpix into a Ninetails, or Eevee into a Flareon. Players can obtain the Fire Stone from a character in the game, but only after showing him specific Pokemon. Through this process players will get all the evolution stones, including the Fire Stone.

Instructions

    • 1

Travel to Route 44 and wander through the tall grass until you encounter a Lickitung. Battle it, then throw a Poke ball at the Lickitung to capture it when it is weakened.

    • 2

Travel to Ilex forest, which is located between Goldrenrod and Azalea. Explore it until you come up against an Oddish in a random encounter. Weaken and catch the Oddish with a Poke ball.

    • 3

Walk along Route 34 (the section between Ilex Forest and Goldenrod) at night to encounter a Staryu. Use a fishing rod to catch this Pokemon.

    • 4

Travel to Route 36 and catch a Growlithe. You have a better chance of encountering one in the morning.

    • 5

Travel to Route 25 and enter the sea cottage. Here you encounter an old man who wants to see Pokemon that his grandson has told him about. These are the Pokemon you have already caught -- Lickitung, Oddish, Staryu and Growlithe. He will give you an Evolution Stone for each one, and when he sees the Growlithe, you will receive the Fire Stone.
