How to Work Game Shark for VBA

GameShark is a cheat code database for video game consoles and computer games. The original GameShark cartridges could be inserted into a game system, such as the Sega Genesis, into which you would manually enter the cheat code. The modern GameShark comes on a CD, an identical concept to the cartridge version but updated for newer systems. Visual Boy Advance (VBA) is a Gameboy Advance emulator for Windows, Mac and Linux that has a built-in GameShark. You can use the GameShark for VBA by accomplishing a few steps.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open Visual Boy Advance.

    • 2

Click the "File" menu and then click "Open" to load the game you want to play. The GameShark feature does not work if you do not load a game.

    • 3

Click "Cheats," "Cheat List" and then "Gameshark."

    • 4

Refer to the "Resource" section to find a cheat code website that features GameShark cheats. Find the Gameboy game you're looking for, and then scroll down the page to a section called "GameShark Codes." Copy those cheat codes by highlighting the codes with your mouse and then clicking "Copy."

    • 5

Go back to VBA. Paste the GameShark code into the field that is blank and then click "OK." The code you enter will have an "E" by it, meaning that it is enabled.
