How Do I Get Magnemite to Evolve in Pokemon Blue?

In "Pokemon Blue," Magnemite is an Electric-type Pokemon that is particularly powerful against Water and Flying-type Pokemon. When it gains enough Experience Points from battles to reach Level 30, Magnemite evolves into a more advanced species called Magneton. Magneton is also an Electric-type Pokemon, but it is stronger and knows more advanced and powerful battle moves than Magnemite. You can only catch Magnemite in the Power Plant area of the game, which is in the northeast of the Kanto region.

  Find a Magnemite in the Power Plant on Route Ten, and catch it with a Poke Ball.

  Assign Magnemite to your party of six traveling Pokemon.

  Give Magnemite the Exp. Share item to hold. To get this item, go to the Pokemon Lab outside Fuchsia City after you collect 50 Pokemon, and then talk to the scientist upstairs. The Exp. Share will enable Magnemite to gain Experience Points from battles even if you don't use the Pokemon in them.

  Use Magnemite in battles so that it gains Experience Points. It will be especially effective against Water and Flying-type Pokemon.

  Earn enough Experience Points to elevate Magnemite to Level 30. At this point, it will automatically evolve into Magneton.
