How Can You Capture a Rayquaza in Pokemon Emerald?

"Pokemon Emerald" players are likely to be familiar with Rayquaza from the game box's cover art. Rayquaza is a green, robotic and serpentine Pokemon that battles in its wild form at level 70. As a legendary Pokemon, Rayquaza puts up a tough fight. Rayquaza is strong against Fire, Bug, Fighting, Water and Grass-type Pokemon. When it comes to battling Rayquaza, an effective fighting party consists of an Ice-type Pokemon for causing large amounts of damage, a Dragon or Rock-type Pokemon for bringing Rayquaza's health into capturing range without killing it and at least one high-level Pokemon (around level 70) with a paralyzing attack.

  Purchase the Mach Bike at the bike shop in Mauville City. The shop is to the right of the Pokemon Center. The Acro Bike is easier to control, but the Mach Bike has the speed you need to reach Rayquaza.

  Capture a Pokemon with a Sleep or Sing ability, such as Altaria. Train this Pokemon up to level 70 so it can have an effect on Rayquaza.

  Fly to Pacifidlog Town and surf east to Sky Pillar. Stock up on as many Ultra Balls as you can. Save the game before entering the Sky Pillar.

  Enter the Sky Pillar. Every floor has a large gap in the center, with the entrance on one side and the exit on the other. Use the Mach Bike to speed over cracks in the floor. On the fourth floor, pilot the Mach Bike around from the entrance to the cracks directly above the gap in the floor, where the rocks make it impossible to progress further. The floor will break and drop the character to the previous floor. Enter the door that had been previously sectioned off by rocks. Continue through the levels of the Pillar until reaching the last floor, where Rayquaza looms in the center.

  Battle the wild Rayquaza until its health is in the low yellow or red range. Dragon and Rock-type Pokemon inflict double damage on Rayquaza, while Ice-type Pokemon inflict quadruple damage. Once Rayquaza is low on health, attack it with Sing or any other paralyzing ability until Rayquaza is unable to act or run.

  Throw as many Ultra balls as needed to capture Rayquaza, or throw a single Master Ball to immediately catch this legendary Pokemon.
