What Island Is Lugia in Pokemon FireRed?

Naval Rock

• Naval Rock is the eighth island in the Sevii Island chain. The Sevii Islands are accessible once you have defeated the game's seventh gym leader Blaine of Cinnibar Island. You do not have to complete island Nos. 1 through 7 to gain access to Naval Rock. Naval Rock itself is home to only two Pokemon, the legendary birds Ho-Oh and Lugia.

Accessing Naval Rock

• There are two different ways you can access Naval Island. One is if you downloaded the "Mystery Ticket" item from a Nintendo-sponsored event in North America. If you did download the "Mystery Ticket" item, you will be able to sail to Naval Rock from the Seagallop Ferries located in Vermillion City. If you did not get a chance to download the "Mystery Ticket" item, you can use either a GameShark or Action Replay device to warp to Navel Rock.

Finding Lugia

• Lugia is located on the bottom of Naval Rock. Walk into Naval Rock and make a right. You will be taking a series of ladders into Naval Rock. Once you reach the bottom floor, you will find Lugia swimming in a pool of water. Use "Surf" to approach Lugia and engage him in battle.

Capturing Lugia

• Lugia is a Level 70 Pokemon who is a flying/water-type. Lugia can be tough to capture as it knows "Recover," a move that regains hit points. Since Lugia is a flying/water type, it will be weak to electric attacks. Be careful with the Pokemon you use -- your electric Pokemon may be too strong for Lugia to handle, while your other Pokemon may be too weak. Save before you fight Lugia and be sure to bring many Ultra Balls.
