How to Evolve a Dragonair to Dragonite in Pokemon Sapphire

In "Pokemon Sapphire," dragon-type Pokemon have very few weaknesses, so they are a welcome addition to any player's team. For instance, Dragonair is only weak to ice attacks and attacks from other dragons. It even has the ability to heal itself of a status condition, like poison or burn. As you train your Dragonair, you may decide to evolve it to its higher form, Dragonite. The Dragonite Pokemon is physically stronger than Dragonair and can master virtually any attack type.

Instructions

    • 1

Transfer the Dragonair into your "Pokemon Sapphire" game, if you don't already have one on your team. Dragonair cannot be caught in this game, only transferred from "FireRed" or "LeafGreen."

    • 2

Place Dragonair as your primary team member. Fight battles against wild Pokemon to gain experience points. Avoid fighting with other dragons and ice-type Pokemon. Train against fire-, electric-, grass- and ice-type Pokemon, if possible. Their attacks do only half-damage.

    • 3

Level up when Dragonair gets enough experience points. For each level it gains, it needs to earn increasingly more experience points to level up again. Dragonair evolves into Dragonite automatically when it reaches level 55.
