Electric Pokemon
Electric-type Pokemon use electric-based physical attacks to harm their opponents. A side-effect of being struck with an electric attack is paralysis. A paralyzed Pokemon will be unable to attack at all during a battle. Pikachu, perhaps the most recognizable Pokemon, is an Electric-type Pokemon. Electric attacks are effective against water and flying Pokemon. Unfortunately, Electric Pokemon are vulnerable against Ground-type Pokemon. Common moves by Electric Pokemon include Thundershock, Thunderbolt and Thunderwave. Raichu, Electrode, Zapdos and Voltorb are other well-known Electric Pokemon.
Water Pokemon
Water-type Pokemon are a basic elemental Pokemon that use various water-based attacks in battles. There are more than 100 Water-type Pokemon. The majority of them are fish and sea dwellers. A useful feature of Water Pokemon is the ability to use Hidden Moves. Hidden Moves are powerful special moves that also allow the Pokemon trainer to reach previously undiscovered lands by opening new passage ways. Water Pokemon can use the hidden moves Surf and Waterfall.
Fire Pokemon
Fire-type Pokemon are another basic elemental Pokemon that use fire-based attacks in battles. The fire moves are highly effective against Grass-, Ice-, Bug- and Steel-type Pokemon. The Fire Pokemon are vulnerable to attacks from Water-, Ground- and Rock-type Pokemon. According to the Pokemon Database, the Fire Pokemon are rare to find during the early stages of Pokemon games, and should be picked as starter Pokemon. Notable Fire-type Pokemon include Charmander, Growlithe, Cyndaqui, Ninetails and Ho-oh.
Grass Pokemon
Grass-type Pokemon, along with Fire and Water, are a basic elemental Pokemon that is often featured as a starter Pokemon. Although Grass Pokemon are effective against Water, Ground and Rock Pokemon, the type has several defensive weaknesses. Fire, Ice, Poison, Flying and Bug Pokemon are highly effective in battle against Grass Pokemon. Common Grass attacks include Razor Leaf, Petal Dance, Mega Drain, Leaf Storm and Solar Beam. Bulbasaur, Bellsprout, Chikorita, Leafeon and Budew are among the most popular Grass Pokemon.
