How to Delete HM Moves in Gold

HM moves are crucial to your progression through "Pokemon Gold." They can give your Pokemon unique and powerful abilities, but, more importantly, they can help you overcome many obstacles that block your path early in the game. Whether it's a matter of cutting down certain trees or smashing certain rocks, there are some actions you can only perform with the proper HM moves. However, you may reach a point in the game where you no longer need a particular HM move; in that case, you may wish to delete it.

Instructions

- 1
  Travel to Blackthorn City. The city is accessible near the end of the game, shortly after you defeat all of the Team Rocket members in Mahogany Town. The eighth and final gym is located in the city.

  Enter the house to the south of the PokeCenter. A man will be standing near the end of a table in the house.

  Talk to the man at the table. He is known as the Move Deleter. After an initial dialogue sequence, a menu will appear with your available Pokemon listed.

  Select the Pokemon you want to make forget an HM move. The Pokemon's skills will appear.
- 5
  Select the HM move you want to delete. The Move Deleter will delete the HM move.
