Harvest Moon Games for GBA

The "Harvest Moon" series of video games, known as "Farm Story" in Japan, consists of more than 20 titles for a wide variety of game consoles. Since the release of the first game in the series in 1996, "Harvest Moon" games have enjoyed continued popularity in Japan, Europe and the United States. Two of the games in the series were released for Nintendo's Game Boy Advance handheld console
  1. Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town

    • "Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town" was published in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance. In the game, the player takes on the role of a young man who inherits a farm. The player raises livestock and grows crops in an attempt to make the farm turn a profit. In addition, the character can court and marry one of six different potential brides. Other activities involved in running the farm include finding new tools, fishing, mining and cooking.

Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town

    • The second "Harvest Moon" title for the Game Boy Advance was "Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town," released in 2005, is a new edition of "Friends of Mineral Town." The primary difference between the two titles is the protagonist. In "More Friends of Mineral Town," the player takes on the role of a young woman instead of a young man. The character can marry one of eight eligible bachelors. Apart from this, the two games are nearly identical.

    Gameplay

    • Both "Harvest Moon" games for the Game Boy Advance use a time scale to regulate game play. Every second of real time equates to a minute of game time. The player must manage the available time to carry out a wide variety of farm chores such as tending crops, feeding and milking cows, buying supplies and selling farm produce. There are a large number of mini-games, covering activities ranging from playing fetch with a dog to cooking and horse racing.

    Other Games

    • Both "Friends of Mineral Town" and "More Friends of Mineral Town" are substantially influenced by another game in the series, "Harvest Moon: Back to Nature," which was released in 1999 for the Sony PlayStation. In addition, the Game Boy Advance games took advantage of the GBA's ability to connect to the Nintendo Gamecube. Connecting "Friends of Mineral Town" to a Gamecube playing "Harvest Moon: It's a Wonderful Life" or connecting "More Friends of Mineral Town" to a Gamecube playing "Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life" unlocks special features within the GBA game, such as new characters, items and locations.
