How to Catch Things in the Safari Zone in Pokemon Blue

The Safari Zone is a Pokemon preserve first introduced in the games "Pokemon Red" and "Pokemon Blue." The Safari Zone contains certain types of Pokemon found nowhere else in the game, such as Chansey. Capturing Pokemon in the Safari Zone is a lot different from capturing Pokemon in the wild. For starters, you do not battle these Pokemon. Instead you must capture them using only rocks and bait. In addition, you must use special Safari Balls as opposed to regular Pokeballs.

Instructions

    • 1

Throw bait at the wild Pokemon. Throwing bait makes a Pokemon happy and makes them less likely to run away. However, throwing bait also makes Pokemon harder to catch.

    • 2

Throw rocks at Pokemon to lower their defense. Throwing rocks at Pokemon in the Safari Zone makes them much easier to catch, but it also makes them angry, which will cause them to run away. It is best to balance the amount of bait and rocks you use.

    • 3

Travel around all areas of the Safari Zone. There are four different areas total, each containing different types of Pokemon.

    • 4

Fish in the waters of the Safari Zone. The water of the Safari Zone contain unique, Pokemon such as Dratini, which can't be found anywhere else in the wild. Keep in mind that capturing a fished Pokemon involves using bait and rocks just like when capturing land Pokemon.

    • 5

Manage your Safari Balls wisely. You only get 30 Safari Balls to work with, and once you run out you are kicked out of the Safari Zone.

    • 6

Avoid walking in areas where Pokemon aren't found as you are limited to 500 steps in the Safari Zone before your time is up. Stick to the grass or the waters.
