How to Get Charmander in Sapphire

Upon their release for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, "Pokémon Ruby" and "Sapphire" were the first Pokémon games to come out for the new handheld system and featured a variety of Pokémon not seen before. However, they left out some of the classics, including the popular Charmander. In 2004, Nintendo released "Pokémon FireRed" and "LeafGreen," which brought back some of these classic Pokémon. Trading between these games will allow you to have a Charmander in "Pokémon Sapphire."

    • 3

Connect the Game Boy Advance containing the "FireRed" or "LeafGreen" game cartridge to the other Game Boy Advance containing "Pokémon Sapphire" using the link cable. Turn both systems on.

    • 4

Make your way to the first available Pokémon Center in the "FireRed" or "LeafGreen" game, and head upstairs. Go to the Pokémon Cable Club at the far right counter and choose Trade Center. You will then be prompted to save your game. Select "Yes."

    • 5

Head to a Pokémon Center in the "Sapphire" game and make your way upstairs to the middle counter. You will be asked if you would like to trade Pokémon. Select "Yes." You will then be prompted to save your game. Select "Yes" again.

    • 6

Push the "A" button to confirm the link on both Game Boy Advance systems. Push "A" again on both systems to start the link.

    • 7

Enter the door behind the counter when prompted in each game and head to one of the computer stations.

    • 8

Select the Pokémon you wish to trade from your "Sapphire" game and select Charmander from the "FireRed" or "LeafGreen" game. Select "Yes" when asked "Is this trade okay?"

    • 9

Allow the Game Boy Advances to complete the trading process and then choose "Cancel" on the trade screens of both systems.

    • 10

Walk out of the computer station room. A pop-up will appear saying, "The link will be terminated if you leave the room. Is that okay?" Select "Yes."
