Play "Pokemon Gold" or "Pokemon Silver" for the Game Boy Color. The Johto region is first introduced in these two games. The sequels to "Pokemon Red" and "Pokemon Blue," "Pokemon Gold" and "Pokemon Silver" allow the player to access the Johto region to battle other Pokemon trainers and gym leaders. The Johto Region includes 12 cities and towns: New Bark Town, Cherrygrove City, Violet City, Azalea Town, Goldenrod City, Ecruteak City, Olivine City, Cianwood City, Mahogany Town and Blackthorn City.
Play "Pokemon Crystal" for the Game Boy Color. This game is an updated version of "Pokemon Gold" and "Pokemon Silver," and features several innovations to the series. "Pokemon Crystal" allows players to choose the sex of their Pokemon, and uses updated graphics that include animated sprites. The game features the same towns and cities from the Johto region with the included Battle Tower. The Tower allows the player to compete in several battles in a tournament setting.
Play "Pokemon HeartGold" and "Pokemon SoulSilver," enhanced remakes of "Pokemon Gold" and "Pokemon Silver" for the Nintendo DS that reintroduce players to the Johto region. These games allow players to travel the 12 cities and town in the Johto region as well as the Kanto region (which was first introduced in "Pokemon Red" and "Pokemon Blue"). Players must defeat the eight gym leaders in Johto and challenge the Elite Four in hopes of becoming a Pokemon master.
