How to Teach Pikachu Volt Tackle

Volt Tackle is a basic attack with an electric component that causes Recoil, damaging the enemy over its next turn. Wild Pikachu do not know this skill automatically, and there is no way to train it. To learn it, a Pikachu in "Pokemon Emerald" must be bred with a Raichu to create a Pichu. That Pichu must then be evolved into Pikachu by raising its happiness levels.

Instructions

  Catch a Pikachu and Raichu of opposite genders, then obtain a Light Ball by trading with another player or checking the items of a captured Pikachu and removing it. Give the Light Ball to the male Raichu or Pikachu by opening the "Items" tab and selecting "Hold."

  Travel to the Breeding Center on Route 110. Leave the two breeding Pokemon there and walk around for a while, then return to retrieve the egg from the "Old Man." Walk 2,560 steps to hatch the egg into a Pichu.

  Raise the Pichu's happiness level until it evolves into Pikachu. Open the main menu and choose "Pokemon," then select the new Pikachu and examine its "Abilities" to ensure that Volt Tackle is present.
