How to Evolve Scyther in LeafGreen

Although Bug-type Pokémon have many weaknesses in "Pokémon LeafGreen," Scyther, a Bug and Flying-type Pokémon, is exceptionally fast and strong. Scyther is able to learn a wide array of moves for taking down opponents on the battlefield. At any level, Scyther can evolve into Scizor, a toughened Bug and Steel-type Pokémon. Scizor's body is made of steel, giving him increased defense. If you want to evolve your Scyther into Scizor, you must trade it to a friend who also owns a copy of "Pokémon LeafGreen."

Instructions

    • 1

Obtain the Metal Coat hold item, if you don't already have it, by going to Five Island. Once there, walk up to the Memorial Pillar and press the "A" button to get the item.

    • 2

Pause the game and open your items list. Select "Metal Coat," and then select "Give." Choose Scyther when asked which Pokémon should hold the item. If Scyther is already holding an item, you'll be asked if you want to swap the two.

    • 3

Power off the Game Boy Advance. Insert the wireless adapter into the port on the top of the Game Boy Advance, with the label facing towards you. If you have a Game Boy Advance SP, the label must face up. Have your friend power on his Game Boy Advance.

    • 4

Turn the Game Boy Advance back on; when the game starts, walk into any Pokémon Center and go to the second floor.

    • 5

Walk up to Direct Corner and speak to the person behind the counter. Select "Trade Center." Designate either yourself or your friend as the leader of the trade. It does not matter which of you is the leader.

    • 6

Select Sycther from your list of Pokémon to trade; it will be sent to your friend's game. When your friend receives Sycther, have him trade the Pokémon back. As soon as you receive it, it evolves into Scizor.
