How to Transfer Pokemon From Red to Gold

"Pokemon Gold" was released in 2000 and is the sequel to "Pokemon Red." While many of the old Pokemon can be found in "Pokemon Gold," some Pokemon, such as Bulbasaur, can only be found by transferring them from the old games. You can transfer any of the 150 Pokemon from "Pokemon Red" into "Gold." However, once a Pokemon is transferred from "Red" to "Gold," he can never be transfer back if he learns a move that was not available in "Pokemon Red."

Instructions

    • 1

Connect two Game Boys using a Nintendo Link Cable.

    • 2

Travel to any Pokemon Center, located in each city, on both Game Boys.

    • 3

Enter the Pokemon Center and walk to the second floor on both Game Boys.

    • 4

Speak to the Cable Club Time Capsule woman using the Game Boy running "Pokemon Gold."

    • 5

Speak to the Trade Club woman using the Game Boy running "Pokemon Red."

    • 6

Save your game on both Game Boys when prompted. Press "A" on both Game Boys when standing next to the table.

    • 7

Select any Pokemon from the Game Boy running "Pokemon Red." Select a Pokemon on "Heart Gold" that was originally in "Pokemon Red" and knows only moves that were available in the game as well. Otherwise, the trade will not work.

    • 8

Select "Trade." The Pokemon will now be traded from "Pokemon Red" to "Gold."
