How to Make a Ditto Into Another Pokemon Forever for Pokemon Emerald

"Pokemon Emerald" is a role-playing game for the Game Boy Advance portable gaming system. Players are tasked with traveling the world of Hoenn in search of elusive monsters referred to as Pokemon that can be trained for battle. The ultimate goal of the player's quest is to capture every single Pokemon in the game and achieve the status of Pokemon master. With more than 400 different types of Pokemon, this is an arduous task. Ditto is a type of Pokemon that can transform into any Pokemon it meets in battle.

Instructions

  1. Using the Day Care Center

    • 1

Insert your Pokemon Emerald cartridge into your Game Boy Advance. Load your save file. Navigate your character to the nearest Pokemon Center. There is a Pokemon Center in every city in the game. You'll need to have a Ditto and a Pokemon that you wish to copy in your active party. Access the PC in the top left corner of the Pokemon Center to change your party.

    • 2

Navigate your character to the day care center. The day care center is located along Route 117 near Mauville City. Players can use the day care center to breed two Pokemon. Speak to the man at the front desk of the day care center. You will be asked to leave two Pokemon from your party with the day care center. Select your Ditto and the Pokemon you wish to copy.

    • 3

Exit the day care center. You'll need to allow around 15 minutes of game play to pass in order for a Pokemon egg to appear. Return to the day care center and speak with the front desk to return the Ditto and second Pokemon to your party. Speak to the woman standing outside the day care center to receive a Pokemon egg. Leave the egg in your party while playing, and eventually a new copy of the non-Ditto Pokemon will hatch from the egg. This process can be repeated as many times as the player wants to produce copies of any Pokemon in the game.

    Using a Save Manipulating Program

    • 4

Use a cheating device such as a Pro Action Replay, Gameshark or Flash Card to obtain a copy of your "Pokemon Emerald" save file. The save file can be exported using the in-game menus of the Pro Action Replay or Gameshark. If you are using a Flash Card, simply locate the Pokemon Emerald .sav file in the root directory of the card.

    • 5

Transfer the save file to your computer using a USB cable or SD card converter. The Pro Action Replay and Gameshark can connect directly to your computer using a USB cable. Flash cards use the SD or Micro SD card format, so all data on the card is stored on an external SD card. Simply insert the SD card into a converter and insert the converter into your computer's USB slot to access the data.

    • 6

Download "Pokesav" and run the completed installation file. Install Pokesav to your local hard drive. Run the program when the installation is complete.

    • 7

Click "File" then "Open" to load your "Pokemon Emerald" save file into the Pokesav software.

    • 8

Locate your Ditto in Pokesav. If the Ditto was in your active party, it will be listed under the "Party Pokemon" header. If the Ditto was not in your active party, you can find it by clicking the "Storage" button on the right side of the program window.

    • 9

Click "Edit" next to the Ditto in Pokesav to enter the Pokemon Edit menu. Use this menu to change the type, level, abilities and stats of the Ditto. Select the type of Pokemon you want the Ditto to be using the drop-down menu labeled "Pokemon." When you are satisfied with your changes click on "File" in the program menu, then "Save." This will save all changes to your Pokemon Emerald save file. Transfer the altered save file back to your flash card or cheating device. When you load your save, the Ditto will match the exact specifications chosen in Pokesav.
