Yu-Gi-Oh Gameboy Games

The trading card game Yu-Gi-Oh, in which players duel against each other using illustrated cards which represent fearsome monsters and magic spells, has spawned a range of spin-offs, from movies to video games. Some of these titles are available for Nintendo's Game Boy series of portable gaming systems, with the majority designed for the Game Boy Advance. These titles recreate the thrill of Yu-Gi-Oh duelling.
  1. Yu-Gi-Oh: Dark Duel Stories

    • The Game Boy Color title "Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories" draws heavily on the animated series and card game, and features characters and storylines fans will recognize. Players aim to become better duellists to advance up the game's hierarchy and eventually challenge the four Rulers of the Heavens opponents. Players can challenge friends who own a copy of the game, with victories against computer and human opponents gaining the winner ranking points and sometimes new cards.

    Yu-Gi-Oh: Dungeon Dice Monsters

    • This extension of the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise features over 100 monsters and several dozen enemies from the series, and is available for the Game Boy Advance. The difference between this and other Yu-Gi-Oh titles is that in "Dungeon Dice Monsters," battles are fought between duellists using dice rather than just cards. The game still includes plenty of magic and summoned creatures, but may be unfamiliar initially to both new players and more experienced Yu-Gi-Oh veterans.

    Yu-Gi-Oh: The Sacred Cards

    • This conversion of the Yu-Gi-Oh card game is a title designed for the Game Boy Advance. The action is based around a role-playing adventure, involving a tournament in which participants deal with the machinations of the Kaiba Corporation; the TV series also used a similar plotline. Players take on some 100 rivals during the game, and "Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards" features hundreds of game cards to go into players' decks.

    Yu-Gi-Oh: Reshef of Destruction

    • This Game Boy Advance title takes its plotline from one of the Yu-Gi-Oh animated series, and includes representations of some 800-plus illustrated cards. Gameplay is similar to another Game Boy Advance title, "Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards," as noted by the IGN U.K. gaming website, but this game offers more storyline as well as an extended card organizer. Players can compete in single-player mode against the computer or use a link cable for two-player duelling.

    Yu-Gi-Oh: GX Duel Academy

    • The Game Boy Advance title "Yu-Gi-Oh: GX Duel Academy" is set in a duelling school, with players creating characters which can be tailored towards their needs. Players then learn about the Yu-Gi-Oh game through tutorials and take part in duels in a bid to improve their in-game ranking. A PDA system included in this title helps players to track scores and interact with other characters.

Yu-Gi-Oh: Ultimate Masters World Championship Tournament 2006

    • This Game Boy Advance title features several duelling modes, including Limited Duel, which offers a number of game restrictions, and Duel Puzzle Mode, which gives participants objectives each turn. In Survival Duel mode, players must battle multiple opponents without regaining life points, presenting participants with a test of perseverance.
