How to Get an Old Rod in Sapphire

"Pokemon Sapphire" was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2003. Rods are used in all "Pokemon" games to catch fish from any body of water, from rivers to oceans. There are three different rods; the Old Rod is the first one you will find. The Old Rod, like all rods in "Pokemon Sapphire," will be given to you by a fisherman.

     Travel to Dewford City.

     Walk to the Pokemon Gym. The Gym is a large building with the word "Gym" on a signpost in front of it.

     Press "A" to talk to the man in the red shirt directly to the right of the gym.

     Answer "Yes" when he asks you if you like to fish. He will give you the Old Rod.
