How to Get Charmander, Bulbasaur & Squirtle in Pokemon Blue

Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle are the starting Pokemon in the "Blue" version of the game for the Game Boy Color. You can only pick one Pokemon from the three at the start of the game, but you can trade the Pokemon during play to collect all three starters, giving you an added advantage in the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Start a new game in "Pokemon Blue." When you are prompted to choose a starter Pokemon, choose any one. Since you will be getting all three, it does not matter in what order you get them.

    • 2

Link your Game Boy Color with another system via the link cable. Go to a Pokemon Center in the game, and go to the top floor to find the trading station.

    • 3

Initiate a trade between the two games; trade the starter Pokemon you chose in "Blue" with any Pokemon in the other version of the game.

    • 4

Restart your game in the "Blue" version, and choose another starting Pokemon. Repeat the trading process from Step 3 to get the other two starting Pokemon, so all three starters have been traded to the other version of the game.

    • 5

Walk into the tall grass in "Pokemon Blue," and catch three wild Pokemon. Link the two Game Boys, go to a Pokemon center and initiate a trade. Trade one of the wild Pokemon you have caught in "Blue" for one of the starters. Trade twice more to have all three starters in "Blue."
