How to Get Through the Third Gym in Pokemon: Yellow Version

The Game Boy is a handheld gaming device that plays cartridge-style video games. Pokemon Yellow Version is a yellow cartridge that is the follow up to the highly popular Pokemon Red and Blue Games. In Pokemon Yellow you start with Pikachu, an electric type Pokemon, and you go on a series of adventures to different gyms, each of which has trainers that specialize in training different types of Pokemon. The third Gym focuses on electric Pokemon.

Instructions

Visit the first three lower level trainers at the third gym before you challege the leader, Lt. Surge. The experience you gain from the first three will give you an idea of what you are up against and will allow you to strengthen you Pokemon before your showdown with Lt. Surge, as well as capture more Pokemon to prepare for him if you don't have strong enough Pokemon.

    • 2

Use the ground type Pokemon Dugtrio or Sandslash for the third gym. Ground Pokemon are 100 percent resistant to electric Pokemon, so none of their Pokemon will be able to do any damage to yours. For Dugtrio use his earthquake attack and for Sandslash use sword dance.

    • 3

Avoid using Squirtle, a water type Pokemon, in the third gym. Water Pokemon are the weakest against electric Pokemon. If you have water Pokemon don't use them. Instead, if you don't have any ground type Pokemon, use Bulbasaur or Charmander. Bulbasaur has the added advantage of being resistant, but not immune, to the attacks from electric Pokemon. With Bulbasaur use explosion, which his his most powerful attack, and with Charmander use fire blast or megakick, his two most powerful and equally damaging attacks.
