How to Chain Shinesparks in Metroid: Zero Mission

Since 2004, "Metroid: Zero Mission" has offered gamers an enhanced remake of the original "Metroid" for the Nintendo Entertainment System, with new power-ups, updated graphics, a new map layout and an all-new ending. One of the power-ups not seen in the original, known as "shinesparking," can be used to break through certain walls and reach areas that are normally inaccessible. Under proper circumstances, it is possible to chain multiple shinesparks in a row.

Instructions

    • 1

Morph-ball bomb the lower-left area of the room after defeating Kraid, then go into the next room. Collect the Speed Booster upgrade.

    • 2

Find an area that has a vertical slope and enough room to charge Samus' Speed Boost ability. (Several areas like this can be found throughout the game.)

    • 3

Charge your Speed Boost ability by holding left or right until Samus begins to glow, then press down to store her charge. Samus will glow red.

    • 4

Make Samus jump (while glowing) and hold any direction other than down. Samus will begin shinesparking.

    • 5

Aim Samus' shinespark at a vertical slope before it ends. Samus will continue running and quickly regain her Speed Boost charge. Press down again to store the charge. You can continue shinesparking in this fashion so long as a slope is available.
