How to Erase Data From a GBA Card

Fit the Game Boy Advance with rewritable memory cards to make game creation and testing easier or to enable the use of e-books and pictures. To transfer files back and forth between the Game Boy Advance and the computer, use the included special wire. The wire connects the Game Boy to the USB port of the computer. Some Game Boy Advance memory cards show up as mass storage devices, while others must use included software. To erase the memory card, either erase the files with Windows Explorer, or use the rewritable memory card's software.

Instructions

  1. Mass Storage Device

    • 1

Plug the wire into the GBA and into the USB slot of the computer. Wait for the mass storage device drivers to automatically load.

    • 2

Click "Start," open "Computer" or "My Computer" and look for a new removable drive. Double-click the drive to view the GBA's files.

    • 3

Hold the "Shift" key and click to select multiple files. Right-click on any of the selected files and select "Delete."

    • 4

Close the Explorer window to view the desktop. Right-click on the "Recycle Bin" and select "Empty Recycle Bin."

    Game Boy Advance Card Software

    • 5

Connect the GBA to the computer's USB port. Open the included software and check to see if the connection was successful. Most programs will display a confirmation message when the GBA is connected correctly.

    • 6

Click on files that must be erased and click the red "Minus" button at the top of the window.

    • 7

Click the "Burn" button to actually erase the files from the GBA card.

    • 8

Disconnect the GBA from the computer and turn it off, then on to use.
