The Pokemon Gold Version is Not Saving

Each generation of "Pokemon" video games looks and sounds better than the one before it. But some people still enjoy playing the older games, whether for the simplicity factor or nostalgia. As long as you still have a playable copy of "Pokemon Gold" and a working Game Boy Color, you can play. Properly maintained, the games and systems last a long time. Over time however, the battery inside the game dies, taking away your ability to save games.

Instructions

    • 1

Grasp the battery with your needle-nose pliers. Push down with the pliers and turn left while ensuring the cartridge doesn't move.

    • 2

Turn game over so the front is facing you and take off the top cover.

    • 3

Locate the battery in the top right corner. Use the soldering iron to remove the solder holding the battery into place. Gently pull the battery toward you as you remove the solder. Use extreme caution to avoid damaging the game.

Place the replacement battery into place. Ensure the positive and negative sides are in the right places. Use your solder and soldering iron to secure the new battery.
