How to Find Latios & Latias in Emerald

"Pokemon Emerald" has two different categories for Pokemon: common and legendary. The difference between the two is that common Pokemon can be caught again and again while legendary Pokemon are limited to one per game. With the legendary Pokemon Latias and Latios, you can capture only one or the other once you have beaten the game. After the credits have rolled, your character will wake up back in their house. You must walk downstairs and talk to your mother to have a shot at unlocking Latias or Latios.

     Press "A" next to your mother to talk to her. Select "Red" for Latias or "Blue" for Latios.

     Leave your house. Press "Start" to bring up the map. Latios or Latias will be at a random location on the map. The location will be marked by either a red or blue bird. Travel to the location.

     Walk through the tall grass until you encounter the Pokemon.

     Use a Pokemon with "Mean Look" to stop the target from escaping. Damage it until its health bar is in the red. Use Ultra Balls to capture either one.
